Versatile Blogger Award

versatile-blogger-award

Last week’s Tuesday morning Mihir and I were just trying to drag ourselves out of bed. We had arrived to Prague late in the night and hadn’t been able to resist sampling some of the famous Czech beer. Lazily I turned off the ever so loudly ringing alarm, and still with the sleep still in my eyes, I checked the notifications on my phone.

I generally ignore any Twitter DMs as they are usually just some kind of automated welcome message. Just before deleting a particular notification though, I realised that it was not what I thought it was. I took a closer look and was more than pleasantly surprised.

The lovely Melissa from Parenthood & Passports had nominated us for the Versatile Blogger Award!

What is the Versatile Blogger Award?

The Versatile Blogger Award is an award from bloggers for bloggers. As a community we strive to inspire one another and support each other’s work. Accepting the nomination for the award comes with a few rules. We must:

  • Thank the person who gave us the award and include a link to their blog
  • Nominate other bloggers who inspire us
  • Share several random things about ourselves

How we got nominated

When Mihir and I started this blog roughly a year ago, we doubted that anybody would ever be interested in what we had to say about travelling. Indeed we created it as a creative outlet and as a way to document our adventures for the future. As such we were more than happy to be nominated for this award.

And what made it even more special was the fact who the nomination came from. Melissa, Damon and their son Avery are well seasoned travellers and their blog revolves all around family travel. With our family planning in the early stages yet, I have been thinking increasingly of how to travel with children. If you are in a similar situation, you will want to check out Parenthood & Passports!

10 things you may or may not know about us

Now we should share seven random facts about us. But because there is the two of us, we’ve decided to make it an even 10 🙂

  1. Between the two of us we have visited nearly 30 countries, but together we have only explored 13. We hope that this number will increase drastically in the next year(s).
  2. We are determined to visit all six (excluding Antarctica) continents together before starting a family.
  3. We love architecture. Although the spectrum is wide, we both adore the Art Nouveau style.
  4. Our favourite city in all of Europe is not Paris or London or Rome. It is Stockholm.
  5. Between the two of us we nearly make one decent Finn. Mihir speaks Swedish and I speak Finnish (well, at least enough to get by 😛 ).
  6. Our hard drive contains several detailed itineraries for trips we are not likely to take anytime soon. We just love planning. Maybe we are a little zany.
  7. Mihir’s top bucket list item is Machu Picchu. Mine is Salar de Uyuni. Time to head to South America!
  8. We both love Seinfeld and Mihir has made it a habit to constantly quote the show whenever we are not watching it (aka when we are travelling). Nothing like shooting a video with somebody repeatedly shouting “Papier maché? What is papier maché?!” :’)
  9. Although we have visited neither country, Mihir’s favourite cuisine is Japanese while mine is Thai.
  10. We own two cats. Or perhaps do they own us? Buster and Cosmo are the salt in our life and make coming home from our travels just so much sweeter <3

Just look at these two cuties!

Bloggers we are nominating

In the last few months I have come across a large number of fantastic travel blogs, but the following 3 do stand out to me. What I enjoy is their personal touch and detailed narration which makes me feel like I was there with them. Mihir and I made a concious decision to nominate fairly new bloggers who have already shown versatilty in their posts.

  1. La Vida Viva: Aussies Amanda and Daniel are currently on their RTW honeymoon and their posts are a real treat. Their travel style is a lot like ours and their content covers several bases. Check out their Iceland itenary!
  2. Boots not Roots: Danielle and her husband are another travelling couple. What we love most is their focus on travel in Europe. We also tend to walk a lot during our trips, so we have a few things in common 😉
  3. Nyr Dagur: Tais, originally from Brazil but now based in Ireland, has a very down-to-earth style of travelling and writing. She puts so much love into her posts, I’m already looking forward to the next one 🙂

Final thoughts

Well, there you have it. Thank you for supporting our passion of travelling and writing. This is only the beginning and we’re looking forward to sharing more of our adventures with you in the future 🙂
